Building a Heart That Allah Loves: Qur'anic Light and Prophetic Guidance for Strengthening the Heart by Building Iman and Beautiful Character in Muslim Children (Developing Love for Allah Series)

As Muslim parents, we teach our children what Islam asks of them. But as they grow older, there is another conversation that becomes just as important:

What is happening inside the heart?

Why do we trust Allah when things do not go the way we hoped? How do we remain grateful when someone else seems to have more? What does it really mean to have taqwa, sincerity, patience, or contentment? And how can a child begin building a relationship with Allah that comes from more than simply knowing the rules?

These were the kinds of questions that led me to create Building a Heart That Allah Loves .

I wanted to give Muslim children a book that speaks to them about the inner qualities of the heart , not as a list of things they should do, but as qualities they can begin to understand, reflect upon, and practice in their everyday lives.

Throughout the book, children explore 11 important qualities of the Muslim heart , with guidance drawn from the Qur’an and authentic teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) . Each topic helps children understand what the quality means, why it matters to Allah, and what it might look like in their own thoughts, choices, struggles, and relationships.

The goal is not simply to teach children to behave well on the outside .

It is to help them understand what should be growing on the inside .

Because beautiful character does not begin with appearances. It begins with a heart learning to love Allah, trust Him, remember Him, turn to Him, and choose what pleases Him even when no one else is watching.

Written for Muslim children ages 8–14 , this book can be read independently or shared between parent and child as a starting point for conversations about iman, character, and the heart.

My hope is that Building a Heart That Allah Loves helps our children do more than learn about their faith.

I hope it helps them begin to understand the kind of heart they want to carry through life.
