Description

According to the National Police Dog Foundation website, It is an unfortunate fact that dozens of law enforcement K9s die from heat exhaustion in patrol cars every year.

This book highlights over 50 cases between 2007 & 2023 in which police K9s were killed from being left for hours in idling patrol vehicles in temperatures as high as 100 degrees. When the air conditioning fails, these K9s can be dead in as little as 6 minutes. Department policies are that officers are only required to check on the dogs once per hour, and can leave their K9s in idling vehicles for as many hours as they choose.

Year after year for decades, departments have blamed these deaths on failure of technology while making no major changes to policy. The officers involved typically get a 5 day suspension without pay as a public relations move. They are rarely fired because they are following department policy. Even an officer who forgot to refuel his vehicle 3 days in a row, causing it to shut off and killing his K9, was not fired.

You will also be given a look at the bigger picture of why this tragedy keeps happening. It goes back further than most can imagine. Buckle up. It's going to be a wild ride into the past and the present, exploring the history of government, police, hunting, and how our entire civilization was built upon the bullying of animals & nature.

The information in this book is meant to be shared in order to save future K9s from spending their final minutes locked inside a police vehicle, dying a torturous death from organ failure due to heat exhaustion.
